In a thrilling start to the F4 British Championship season, Bart Harrison roared onto the rookie podium, with a rookie cup win in race 2 and a rookie podium in race 1.
Despite a competitive qualifying session, where 0.4 seconds off pole position saw Bart qualifying P17, Bart was determined to move through the field and make up places.
In race 1, drivers lined up in order of their second fastest qualifying time, which saw Bart start P11. Bart crossed the finish line in P10, which saw him take second place in the rookies and achieving his first rookie podium.
Sunday morning was a wash out, which caused a long delay to the race schedule, leaving only time for one of the two scheduled Sunday races. Navigating through the chaos brought on by an early Safety Car, Bart was able to keep it clean, gaining eight positions through the race, ultimately securing a commendable ninth place overall and claiming victory in the Rookie Cup. A huge achievement from starting P17, with each place gained earning an additional championship point.
What Bart had to say:
“Qualifying was really close between everyone. We didn’t get the positions we wanted to, but we had a decent start for race one from P11 and made a place to run P10. We were fast when it started spitting with rain, so that helped us a lot and I had nothing to complain about. I was getting my arms out, it was fun. I enjoyed it.
“The start of race two was horrendous, so when everyone started bunching up in front, I got excited because I knew we could make some places back. We got stuck in, I kept it on the road, and we finished with a Rookie win. This week we have been starting further back than I’ve been hoping for, but I’ve still enjoyed it and am happy to come away with two trophies.”
